Suzhou K.Wah Royal Mansion: A Testament to Elegant LivingUnveiling G F D's Award-Winning Design for a Sales Centre
Immerse in the story of Suzhou K.Wah Royal Mansion, a sales centre designed by G F D, that has won the prestigious Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019. This design, inspired by the cultural context of the South of the Yangtze River, showcases the elegant and humanistic aesthetics of Suzhou Canal, offering a glimpse into the elegant lifestyle people aspire to.
The Suzhou K.Wah Royal Mansion stands out for its unique features. The bar counter area houses an irregular-shaped display for property models, with a dynamic sculpture by ALEXANDER CALDER adding a sense of flexibility to the space. The sunken and semi-enclosed book bar, adorned with TASCHEN publications and wooden bookcases, sets a soft tone. The starry ceiling creates a lively atmosphere, making the space ideal for reading and conversation.
The design realization technology used in the project is noteworthy. The Scandinavian-style furniture in the bar counter area was sourced from the Danish brand MUUTO. The children's entertainment zone features an arc-shaped bookshelf and furniture from the Italian brand ME TOO, combined with Legos, making the area visually appealing and interesting.
The project, spanning an area of 1000 sqm, serves as both a sales centre and a property owners' club. The design team, led by Ye Fei and Qian Chen, faced the challenge of integrating the architecture with the interior design to create a poetic imagery. They also worked on creating a skylight to blend natural light with lamplight, creating a hazy and amazing atmosphere.
The project started in June 2018 and was completed in November 2018 in Suzhou, China. The design research focused on integrating functionality with humanistic aesthetics, perfectly interpreting an elegant and quality lifestyle. The design, adjacent to Suzhou Canal, inherits the cultural context of the South of the Yangtze River, showcasing people's pursuit of an elegant lifestyle.
